Alexandra (Ali) Simon

Ali Simon is the founder and lead occupational therapist at RE-OT. She is a South African-trained occupational therapist with over 12 years of clinical experience, and has lived and worked in London for the past nine years.

Professional background

Ali began her career in South Africa, working across acute and rehabilitation hospital settings. In the UK, she built her neurorehabilitation foundations in the NHS, working in acute services and in specialist inpatient rehabilitation at the Frank Cooksey Rehabilitation Unit and the Lishman Unit, a national specialist neuropsychiatry and brain injury service. In these roles she worked within complex multidisciplinary teams managing patients with acquired neurological conditions.

Since 2021, Ali has worked in specialist private practice, building a focused caseload of complex community neurorehabilitation cases, most commonly referred through case managers within the personal injury claims process.

Clinical specialisms

Ali’s expertise centres on neurorehabilitation, with particular specialisation in:

  • Traumatic brain injury. A comprehensive approach to the cognitive, physical and psychosocial sequelae that shape functional recovery and long-term independence.
  • Functional Neurological Disorder. An integrated, formulation-led rehabilitation model that addresses both the neurological and lived-experience dimensions of the condition.

  • Client-centred, goal-directed rehabilitation using SMART goals and recognised outcome measures
  • Ecologically valid assessment in the client’s own home, community and workplace
  • Collaborative working within multidisciplinary teams, including neuropsychologists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, support workers and case managers
  • Clear, timely reporting appropriate for rehabilitation within the litigation process
